Hello I was hoping someone could help regarding loss of contracted hours at short notice

I received my roster this week and found that my Sunday shift has been taken from me to accommodate a new staff member. I have had this shift for nearly 3 years. As I am only part time losing this shift will send me into financial hardship I have spoken to my supervisor who has informed me that with the implement of new staff there may be more roster changes. I am a care worker in the community and have only ever had this roster for 1 client while I have watched new staff come on board and be given close to full time work. this is making me ill I have not slept since receiving this roster and now need to take tomorrow off as it will not be safe for me to drive any information regarding this is appreciated

If your Employment contract mentions that you are contracted to work X amount of hours every week then you should continue to be given those hours by your Employer - if not- talk to FairWork.

Check your employment contract.

If your employment contract states that you are only part-time/casual ( witout guaranteed number of hours per week ), then you are out of luck.
