I was granted my permanent residency in December 2013. Early 2014 my husband and I seperated and in may 2014 my son and I relocated back to our home country.
Now my son and I are going back to Australia early next year to visit my sons father and his family for 14 days. I'm assuming I don't need to apply for a visa for my son who has dual citizenship (will be traveling on his passport of my home country), but I'm unsure wether or not I need to apply for a visitor visa seeing as I haven't lived in Australia for 4 years almost at the time of our visit next year?

Australian citizens do not require a visa to enter Australia, but they need to be on an Australian passport. Both you and your so need to obtain an Australian passport, if you do not have one, before you travel to Australia.

But I'm not an Australian citizen. I only have permanent residency so two different things, I don't need an Australian passport and I'm not sure my son does either? His Australian passport runs out next year, but he still won't be traveling on it. My question is wether or not I need a visitor visa?

Sorry, if you have a residency visa in your foreign passport it will still apply. If your son is an Australian citizen, he must use his Australian passport to enter Australia, or he must be able to prove his Australian citizenship to the satisfaction of the immigration officer, this could cause delays and is not always foolproof.

My son has dual citizenship so also two passports. He will be traveling on the passport of the country we live in now but would it be sufficient enough to bring along his Australian passport to show at immigration?
