I am joint executor of my father's Estate. He passed away nine months ago and I spent some time overseas as I was - and still am - deeply affected by losing him.
Most of the money in the Estate remains in a managed fund that has recently dropped in value by around 5% due to the share market. The other executor, who is not a beneficiary, is unwilling to transfer and distribute this money until these managed funds recover (which could be many months or longer). There are several beneficiaries, two of whom (including myself) are entitled to their full share now.
I have a prickly relationship with the other executor and there have been communication issues. It may be that we simply cannot resolve this between us.
Before I see my father's solicitor, I would appreciate any thoughts on this: can the other executor delay this distribution for - in their opinion - the benefit of all beneficiaries?
