Thanks. It's been 6 years since the original offence and attempts to serve me a summons (I was overseas at that time). BUT, the police apparently turned up at one of my old addresses yesterday looking for me again after all these years.
Does the Statute of Limitations cover civil & criminal law? Can this ever summons/offence ever 'expire', or will I be randomly sought for every so often?
In QLD, its 1 year for summary and none for indictable.
So SA is probably around the same as nsw and qld.
Dui is a summary offence, so you should be clear of a summons.
Do you know what the police wanted when they were looking for you. It could be that the gui hearing has been heard in your absence adn you have been found guilty. They may have been looking for you to make you pay the fine or execute a warrant.
