Please help me. In 2003 my business partner and I lodged applications for international patents. I have just found out that an American company also lodged patent applications for the same thing the removal of concrete scale from mixer bowls. They lodged there applications in 2005. There application has now been approved despite being virtually identical to ours. Is this legal, and I was of the belief that something had to be novel and not previously in the public domain to be patented. There system is now being rolled out world wide and they are taking all the benefits.
I would really appreciate some advice as due to recent hardships Im financially not able to take direct legal advice.
Many thanks
