Your offence is serious, but whether it will exclude you from registering as a nurse once you are qualified, I'm not sure. Take a look at the AHPRA criminal offence page https://www.ahpra.gov.au/Registration/Registration-Standards/Criminal-history.aspx and click the link to Criminal History Registration Standard, for information about the seriousness of your offence as far as Health Professions are concerned. Talk to your solicitor about this (ensure you use one to represent you in court). The solicitor may be able to present your case so as to minimise your chances of being rejected by AHPRA. Yes, the solicitor will cost you money, but failing to get nurse registration may cost you more.
