I have recently been eligible to apply for citizenship based on permanent residency I arrived Australia in 2008.
The website on www.citizenship.gov.au states if citizenship applied on permanent residence basis evidence of arrival(passport ) is required .The fact is I lost my Indian passport and I do not want to apply for new one and I have few legal problems regarding my Indian passport and Consular general of India is aware about it.

While I contacted immigration on phone it was been told to me that it is not necessary to show passport or its copy for citizenship just a driving license is enough.

So is it mandatory to show my passport for my citizenship application or citizenship appointment .
