My solicitor has advised me that a recent court case involving a disputed property settlement resulted in the purchaser losing a lot of money due to not having a caveat on the property at settlement.
They are saying that its advisable to now get a caveat on the property before settlement to prevent any issues.
Wondering if we should do this, it is residential, the lady living in it bought and built the property and has been living there for 13 years. She is elderly so doubt there would be anything we'd need to worry about.
Plus solicitor wanting to charge nearly $500 to do this?!?!
