I recently spoke to 2 staff members of NSW Births Deaths and Marriages office. One person told me it is not compulsory to register a child's birth and within 5 minutes another staff member told it is compulsory and is an offence if mother/father does not register. So, what is your advice as to whether it is compulsory./mandatory ?

Secondly, when the 'event' is registered, does the registration transfer a title to the baby's birthright/birth securities (share of the commonwealth's resources / land rights) ?

If so, then who has legal title to the securities and who has equitable title ?
