That sounds like it makes sense. I mean if you lose your driver's licence they don't confiscate your car, so I didn't think they would confiscate you firearms if you lost your shooters licence. You wouldn't be allowed to use them or keep them in your possession - you'd have to have them stored by another licence holder.
Some people have tens of thousands of dollars worth of firearms - wouldn't be right to simply take this away from them without compensation. If the person were convicted of murder then it makes sense to confiscate them.
