AN OVERVIEW OF MIGRATION TO AUSTRALIA

All governments control who is allowed to enter and live in their country. In Australia, anyone except an Australian citizen who wishes to come on a temporary or permanent basis must obtain a visa.

Presently, there are over one hundred different Australian visas, each with their own rules for eligibility. The Migration Act Regulations enacted by the Federal government provide the rules for that control in Australia. If these rules are met a visa will be granted.
