INFORMATION ON ASBESTOS AND PERSONAL INJURY IN NSW
INFORMATION ON PERSONAL INJURY IN QUEENSLAND
The Personal Injuries Proceedings (Legal Advertising) and Other Acts
Amendment Act 2006 ("PIPA-2')came into effect on 29 May 2006.
This legislation modifies existing restrictions on lawyers’ advertising of
personal injury and work injury services in QLD and imposes new restrictions on
advertising through the agency of a person who is not a barrister or solicitor.
Specifically PIPA-2 says at section 64(1):
'a practitioner or another person, whether or not the other person is
acting for a law practice, advertises personal injury services if the
practitioner or person publishes or causes to be published a statement that may
reasonably be thought to be intended or likely to encourage or induce a person
[either] to make a claim for compensation or damages under any Act or law for a
personal injury [or] to use the services of a practitioner, or a named law
practice, in connection with the making of a claim...'
As a result of the above changes, we regret that AussieLegal is not permitted
to display any information to QLD residents on these subjects.
AussieLegal is permitted, however, to provide the contact details
of a practitioner or law firm that practices in this area of law.
For further information on these restrictions or the the contact details of a
specialist law firm call 1300 728 200, or use our
free find-a-lawyer service.
