Hi there mate sorry I have not been around, been busy with work.
Having a few problems with Chinese culture just wondering if you or anyone else has had the same?
I smoke and like a beer but my wife has started to complain about it and a few other things. I smoked in Nanning and had a beer each night so dont see the issue really, she knew. I shouldnt smoke I agree but such is life I have tried to give up but end up smoking again.
She is also on my back that I dont eat enough veg and I do and I eat to much meat. This has all come about in the past few weeks??
Is it because she misses home ??
I am a normal Aussie.
I find also and I know this is culture she will refuse to buy the good cuts of meat or chicken and refuses to eat anything while we are out and about. We had a bit of a spat because I wanted to eat at a good hotel last weekend and it blew me away, she refused because the $25 was to much hahaha.
I worry a great deal that she is bored as she has no friends other than the ones at English school and I run my own business so cant spend as much time as I can with her. I take her out sight seeing as often as I can but she wont go out if the sun is to strong, she says she will go black so let us stay home ????
Her daughter and her fight like cats and dogs and even have punchups !!! it was quite scary the first time.
I am at a bit of a loss as to how I deal with things and if I get between her daughter and her I get it from her.
I am not permitted to give the kid money and the mother wont let her on QQ to talk to her friends in China.
hahaha so I am a bad man who smokes likes a beer and eats meat and wastes money
Hi Bryan, I went straight over to Guangzhou the next day and we both arrived back on the 17th of August, it was the best trip I have ever been on. We are getting married in November then we can apply for the spouse visa, which I think will be straight forward. Glad to hear everything is good at your end, keep in touch.
Hi Cam, The Visa types on this forum are either spouse or prospective marriage visas, if you are just after a visa for a holiday visit you might find it quite difficult,Immigration are very tough on Chinese people for tourist Visas, if you are travelling with a group tour its easy but on a personal visit its going to be hard for you.If you plan to marry this girl I would suggest to go the Prospective Marriage Visa subclass 300, its a 9 month visa but for her to remain in Australia you must marry, you will have to prove to the department that your relationship is genuine, it is a paper chase to get all relevant evedence, but if you are thourough you will be ok. All info is available on the web, www.immi.gov.au. Good luck to you both.
Hi,I have just read the forums regarding having a visa aproved,
I visited my lady friend in china in April 2009,we spent nearly a month together where she showed me all the sites in her area of China, in brief I was looked after very well.
We are now trying to get a visa for my lady friend to visit me hear in Australia,we have looked on web sites also I have called the imigration dept hear in OZ but I do not seem to be getting anywhere,I have just sent an email to the Guangzhou visa department asking how do we go about getting my lady friend a visa to visit Australia, also asking what we need to fill out in documents and what costs are involved.
If anyone can help or guide us with this we would be very gratefull.
Cam.
Hi Bryan, its only been 1 month but seems like a year as you would know, i'm dealing with Guangzhou office, I have emailed them to check that they received the medical docs, they replied to say yes they did receive, got the reply in about 2 hours so they are on the ball as far as that goes, looking at other results we might hear something within the next week or so I hope. Thanks for keeping in touch I will keep you informed mate. Best of luck on the 16th bet it can'y come quick enough.
Hello to anyone, waiting for news on the application is the most agonising thing I think we have both ever experienced, the silence from the immigration dept. is cruel and I think it is dragged out to perhaps test your relationship with your proposed fiance/wife. Does anyone else feel the same, the temptation to call them to check progress is strong but probably best left alone, would not like to risk any delays.Counting the minutes till we are together.
Good Luck Paul not that you need it mate. If you have been there that many times cant see you would have any problems. Get that visa in and get on with your future
Hi Bryan, I have been to china to visit my fiance' 6 times since Feb this year, I think if nothing else this should show my total commitment to this beautiful woman, we have submitted the application, all seemed to be in order, the only thing we had to change was the single certificate we had to travel back to her home town to obtain the correct certificate.
The English speaking so far is no problem , if we get totaly stuck we both have good quality electronic translators which we use from time to time, I agree Bryan they are just doing what they are paid to do, I think they can see with thier experience if you are both genuine or not.
well we have the waiting game ahead now hope the result is the same as yours, best of luck in the future to both of you.
Hi again to all well the party is over now I await my wifes arrival next month. She is currently doing all the things she needs to do, Bye to the family finalise accounts and party with her girlfriends. Paul they will certainy ask bout your communications mate after all it is a part of your relationship, my wife does speak enough for me to not need to learn Chinese at all. There are some good online free translators, http://www.free-translator.imtranslator.net/ I find this one to be about the best as it allowes a back translation and beleive me you need to use it. The translators online are good but dont trust them as they really cause problems if you dont. My wife and myself agreed very early in the peice to not trust them and it saved a lot of missunderstandings. If you want to find out what Immigration is looking for mate go to the MRT (Migration Review Tribunal) website: http://www.mrt-rrt.gov.au/
I spent days and days here looking to see what problems people had and many are just stupid things that they omitted from the application. But so long as you and your girl are committed, you should have no problems. My wife was very worried about the application because of all the bad things she had heard about Immigration, half of it is rubbish they are simply people with a job to do same as you and me. I found them to be very good to deal with and quite helpfull. I kept everything - emails - photo's - letters - envelopes - call loggs - recorded our cam conversations - receipts anything and everything. My wife know's my life from the day I can remember and I hers. I also went to Chine for the interview and I am sure that went down in our favour. Yes it cost but this girl will be with me till I die.
I have been sending my wife money for some time now! she has never asked, I wanted her to stop work and attend English classes with her daughter. She would never take more than she absolutely needed. She was going to Beijing to see some of her family prior to comming, she refused the money for an airline ticket and was going to go by train "" A 4 day trip"" she refused the ticket. She wont go now because of the problems over there.
From what I can understand if you are genuine you wont have a problem simply make sure you do your application right and if they want 2 of somthing give then 6.
Best of luck I will pop in from time to time. Thanks for all the well wishes.
CONGRATULATIONS !!!! .... I know the feeling of relief and happiness you must be experiencing right now...... so ....Good Luck and Best Wishes to you and your Spouse in Australia.
Hi Bryan, my spouse received her visa 3 months after it was submitted. It was done through the embassy in Brasilia.
They should have a answer on your spouse's visa fairly soon I would imagine.
Paul, I don't think it should matter too much if your partner doesn't speak a lot of english. They should use a translator for the interview. Do you speak chinese with her, because they will want to know how you communicate with one another.
Good luck.
Hello,
My fiance' has just applied for a prospective marriage visa at the Guangzhou consulate, she does not speak a lot of english does anyone know if this would be a problem with the visa being granted or denied?
