Hi,
Just wondering if anyone knows how to go about contacting the NAB to see if there is any possibilty of getting them to buy back my original debt of $3000. I cannot cope anymore with the bullying tactics of acm anymore. I am at my wits end and am a nervous wreck ..ANy help would be appreciated.
I believe your chances are slim of the nab buying it back.
Most probably because some debts that the bank has bought back in good faith have not been honoured by the debtor.
Always someone that will stuff it up for the rest!
Firstly i want to thank you StandTall for your information. I have had an interesting few days. Firstlti have involved the Financial Ombudsman and as such ACM have to stop contacting me for now. I spoke to a place called MoneyHelp and in talking to a wonderful lady there she told me she beleved their solicitors needed to have a look at my case. I had infact typed up a 5 page submission for ASIC which she asked me to then forward to them I did this on Tuesday afternoon. Yesterday i received an email from Money Help telling me that their solicitors have agreed to take on my case and i would hear from them in the next couple of days. And that if ACM happen to call i am to tell them that they are taking on my case and they would hear from them in the next we'. This in itself was giving some hope that i would atleast get the debt reduced or maybe thrwon out completely due to being tricked into making that first payment. I actually emailed collections at nab and today i received a phone call from them. They told me that have told ACM to stop all collections on the debt and have put some questions to ACM about my account. The guy also said him and two of their manangement are dealing with my case and they are looking at possibly buying the debt back. That they just ask to give them a week or so. I have to say i am feeling alot better than i was at the start of the week and i am no longer worried about being harrassed at work !! Thanks again and i will keep you updated
Cheers, glad to help and give yourself a "pat on the back" for taking action the way you have. We must not also forget a thanks to this forum- AssieLegal and the Moderators.
Just go's to show what a dodgy business ACM/ACMS Group are and saying the word dodgy is going lite,- plenty more i could say but i will bite my tongue .
Even after ASIC's legal actions (in progress), ACM Group continues as previous?
Let's hope the NAB buys back the debt in full if they need to and close it permanently, not justs offers you to pay them back instead of ACM Group, although it would be better.
The NAB may have lost a bit of "luster" by dealing with ACM Group, although i'am positive that they would not have done business with them had they known their collection practices in advance.
Were you served at work or home and what basically does it say.
This is just ACM Group bluff. Probably trying to scare you off. They lose most of their actions one way or another and need your money to pay their defence (legal costs) that are escalating.
If neccessary, draw the process out as long as possible, just like ACM does in their defence against ASIC legal actions, so that it gives you more time for a positive result in regard to your other actions with the nab etc.
I'am sure that the fear/shock that you experienced at the start is over and turning to a bit of rage to
Remember that there is a long process to follow for ACM to succeed if they can and if you do not mind going bankrupt (many thousands do it annually- i know of one and he is doing great and he is a accountant), you can keep this action up your sleave until the last minute and go bust. But do not do it lightly or if you can avoid it.
I have no intentions of going bankrupt . However quite interesting on their behalf seeing they have received a notice to stop collection or any recovery action from the financial ombudsman and from NAB. Just showing again they are one into themselves . It is a statement of claim . I have 21 days to respond .
I have today spoken again to NAB and they have said ACM told them on the 29th they had stopped collection on the account. I also had a call from ASIC today but i was at work, so i will call them back tomorrow now i have a name of someone to talk to. I also spoke to FOS again and guess what !! Looks like ACM are in more trouble...
Update** I have today received a letter from ACM with an application to apply or financial hardship...OMG what part of just leave me alone do they not understand. I have solicitors involved now and hae simpy sent it on to them. I am not claiming financial hardship..grrrr
Hi, I too am struggling with ACM who purchased my debt from NAB some time ago. I have been threatened, had my family and work contacted, had complaints ignored and this morning, was threatened with someone turning up at my workplace. Until reading this post, I thought I was the only one being bullied by this company. The above is just the tip of the iceberg. I too want to take ACM on. I don't believe that their actions have been compliant and they are causing me and my family a great deal of stress. Can anyone recommend a legal firm I can contact? Should I lodge a complaint prior to seeking legal advice?

Who did they say would turn up at your workplace? They will definitely not! If they do, there more stupid than i thought
They may be refering to you being legaly served! In this case, it will be at your residence in all probability in the first instance, as long as they can find you.
A personal tip that many would advise you not to do - record the conversation. It is your choice to advise them of this and you must legaly let them know this, but in reality, how can you catch them out if you do. I'am not advising you to do this, it is entirely up to you.
A_M / A_MS Group are "TRASH" in that if you saw them in the street, you would cross the road to avoid them Good Luck.
Howdy, i have had on going issues with ACM Group as well. my question today is this (if anyone has advice) i complained to the FOS, ACCC and ASIC, about very abrasive phone calls from them. i had contact from FOS and told them, they need to get hold of the call recordings, after 3 months FOS rang me today to listen to the playback of the calls, as ACM wouldn't agree to me having a copy, the calls i listened to are all after my first complaint to FOS and did not contain any of the calls i originally complained about. FOS seems to be uninterested in following up on this, i was told i will have to send another complaint in writing about these calls not being the correct ones.. now please, here you have a tax payer funded organisation, set up to protect the public from this sort of behaviour and they don't want to do it.. ACM have been very selective with the tapes they've provided, now if the FOS makes a request to a financial services license holder and that company does not comply, can't the FOS suspend their license?? any advice on what i can do, what if i complain to my local member of parliment, can he do anything.. i don't want to become a seriel complainer, but nothing is being done, ACM are flouting the law and getting away with it...
thanks for replying, i am sick of talking about it.. i don't expect them to do the right thing, but i would like to know what i can do about it? if anyone is kind enough to answer
