From 457 visa to Permanent Residency
Topic: From 457 visa to Permanent Residency

I would like some advice regarding applying for Permanent Residency. I work in IT in Australia on a 457 visa and have been for the past 18 months. I believe I pass the points assessment and I would like to apply for my Permanent Residency but have a few questions:
1) Am I able to apply for my Permanent Residency?
2) Which visa would I apply for? I am not sure of the visa number.
Also, what are the conditions regarding Permanent Residency? How long does PR last? (I realise it is called a permanent visa but I believe there are conditions for keeping the visa (i.e. you have to have been in Australia for 2 out of 5 years, after you have obtained PR, to be able to reapply keep the visa).
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
