Hi we live in Canberra we purchased a land in Feb 2007 through a solicitors apparently the crown lease on the land indicated that we must build within 6 months, our solicitor failed to advice us on this and just today after 6 years we received a letter from ACTPLA that we have built and received our certificate of occupancy that we need to pay a $5000 fine as we have did not comply with crown lease as we don't have our certificate of compliance my question is what is the limit of statutory in this situation and is this my builders fault for not informing us or our solicitor or ACTPLA should of notify us earlier... Thank you
