My partner and I are travelling offshore to lodge a spouse visa application. Neither of us will return to aus until it is processed.  We have a motgage which we will struggling to continue to pay for the 6month period it's estimated to take to process. I would like to know:

Are there any pointers for us to possibly make the department move faster on our case. ie. have bosses send regular emails etc.?

Does immigration need to see large sums of money in our bank account to satisfy the financial requirement of the application?

Thank you for your time

Hi,

It really isn't possible to provide much help with this question.  Each overseas post is different.  If there are reasons why your application should be processed ahead of all the others in the queue you should make them clear when you lodge the application.

However, in my experience, the single biggest factor in getting an early result is to ensure that the application is complete in every way including, health and character, and that there is ample evidence of the genuineness of your relationship.

I'd be happy to help with any specific questions you may have.
