Hi I just wanted to ask opinions please, I received an email last night stating I have jury duty on Monday, I was aware that I am on the role to be called but did not receive the summons so this came as a surprise. I have logged onto the jury page and it says the case will go for approximately 2 weeks. My dilemma is I have a job interview on Tuesday that cannot be rescheduled, I am also a special ed teacher so me just not showing up Monday without prepping the kids is not a great situation for the students.
I am aware of another person in the same situation as me who did not receive their summons either but got the email late Friday afternoon (after hours). I have put an appeal in online but obviously it will not be looked at over the weekend.
If I do not go do I run a big chance of being fined and not being able to appeal the fine.
Thanks for any advise.

Always a chance of a fine if you do not front, the fact that you replied to the email by putting in an appeal probably serves as an acknowledgement of receipt of service, even though you have claimed to to have not received the summons.

You have a legitimate reason for an exemption in your roll as a special ed teacher, but probably not for the job interview. Advising of the interview will probably lessen your chance for an exemption on the grounds of the teaching job.

Thank you for your response, I guess I will have to wait and see what happens now.
