anyone have any expertise in unused airline tickets . eg where i used outward bound portion of ticket but i cannot use the booking on the return flight ; can i retain my ownership of seats booked and paid for if no refund is available.   i have booked and paid for seats which i cannot use but if i am not entitled to a refund then those seats should remain vacant for that flight as they are legally mine.. .

Some classes of ticket can be transfers to another flight for a fee, but only if you do this before the date of the original booking. Other classes are lost if not used for the original booking. Call the airline.
