Topic: Slander, libel?

About a month ago now, I was the victim of a Nurse/Manager having a dislike/hatred for me for some unknown reason. I was targeted to put it plainly.
This is a long story so I'll try to keep in minimal.
I was a Security Officer (worked on a casual basis for 8-9 years) at a Mental Health facility. Mostly our work consists of checking staff (mostly carers/nurses/doctors) through the Gatehouse, making sure they did not take any contraband up the hospital by use of a metal detector, xray machine and a wand. We also gave them keys and cards.
Now, back to when this started...my Security Manager came in to have meeting with two Nurses/manages about the contract. (it is finishing up soon with the company I was with) about two hours later he comes up and has a word with me in private. He said that a staff member has claimed that you (me) has inappropriately wanded this person. Anyway he said that it was just a word from this person to me to you and that it was not in writing but if it continued he would have to do something. I was shocked and angry at the time and I told him that I'm pretty sure I know who it is (she thinks she doesn't have to be wanded because she is a manager and that she has a diabetic pump) that's making this complaint and that the last time I wanded her was at least two months ago anyway. I also told him that when I do wand, I am just doing my job.
Towards the end of the day when this Nurse/manager (that I suspected was the one that accused me) was leaving to go home, I asked her if I could have a word with her, she looked at me with a worried look and said she was busy and had to go to a meeting. I said "how about tomorrow'? she said ok. That following night I got some advice from various sources telling me it's probably best that you don't confront her. I took their advice and stayed away from her the very next day (which was very hard to do)
The next day I was at home, in the afternoon I get a phone call from my boss/manager telling me that the facility does not want you to return. This was a sacking essentially because I did not want to work for a Security firm that did nothing in the way of mediation, there was no support at all. I was not part of a union either. I regret that now.
Since all that happened, I emailed her boss and expressed my desire to have mediation with the accuser and the chance to clear my name. All he said was to take it up with your Security Manager. I told him that I had quit the Security company (which I did shortly after the news of me being removed)
The next day after emailing the staff member's boss I rang the hospital and asked to talk with this particular person. I even left my mobile number and name so she could call me.
Days later I receive a phone call from the Police asking me not to contact her at work. The Policeman was pretty good about it and even said that it wasn't really a Police matter.
My wife decided to send her a letter expressing her concern out of how I was treated by the whole thing. About two weeks later I get an Interim Restraint Order served on me by the Police from this particular Nurse/Manager. The body ( the main message or story) from her is filled with lies, even saying that I brushed her backside with an open hand and that I got off on it, saying all sorts of outrageous stuff.
I would never do any of these things. Especially at work. I believe that I worked there in a professional manner for 8-9 years.
Any thoughts on how I should proceed would be appreciated. I heard that getting a solicitor would be quite expensive. I don't have much money. I just want to clear my name and at best be compensated (monetary)
I tell ya, being accused of something you didn't do is a hard pill to swallow, and to lose your job over it is like salt into the wound
BTW, I couldn't find a definite thread/topic for this post
