How can I recover my legal cost (some $6000) of defending a false accusation.
After a 2 vehicle accident (I was on a motorbike, hit from behind by another motorbike)
resulted in both of us being injured to some degree and both bikes being damaged. Police did not attend the scene.
The other party in the 2 vehicle accident later made malicious and patently false accusations to police who failed to investigate the matter properly and subsequently issued me an infringement notice,
I had no alternative other than to defend the matter in court, the result being I was found not guilty and not negligent in any way. During the trial the accusing party made a number of conflicting statements, I obtained 2 witnesses that corroborated my version of events, the police prosecution failed to make any credible case against me and their investigative process was called into question by the magistrate.I have had to bare the cost to defend a matter that should have never eventuated in the first place.

I think your lawyer was meant to ask the judge for compensation at the end of the trial
