Hi All,
My employer has notified staff that they will be changing our pay cycle from weekly to fortnightly, we have been given about 6 weeks notice. As I understand they are able to do this without consultation from employees, as long a reasonable notice is given. This is all fine with me, BUT the way they are doing it means when we get our last weekly pay it will be a long stretch of 2 weeks before our next when the fortnightly pay starts. For a lot of us that live payday to payday this is a huge problem. They have given us a phone number to one of their HR people to discuss these issues, but I would like to know if they can legally do this? |

Yep.
Feel your frustration. Apparently as aren't "out a pay" then it isn't an issue. Went through with this with a workplace. Lol! Got more frustrating as they liked to tie this up with end of year - so frequently you'd get a single week pay & then resume your fortnightly pay. Messed around with direct debits etc. Was much worse when I was in a workplace that went from weekly to monthly! |
