Hi there, i have had a company contact me telling me they have found some money that had been lost. They said they would only tell me what it was if i signed an agreement for them to take 20% of the earnings. I signed an emailed document & faxed it to them. It turned out to be shares from a life unsurance policy which I had & closed a few years ago & gave me shares from the close. They sent me paperwork for my to sign & send back for them to retrieve the money, i havent done so as yet! This is my money, should i be held responsible to pay them? Cheers, Glenn

If you signed an agreement with them you are legally bound to pay them the commission that you agreed to. However If you are unable to find any of the details/documents they request so they can complete the application to the insurance company, they will advise you that they cannot proceed with the application.

Once you have that advice from them, and should you subsequently find the documents, nothing to stop you applying directly to the insurance company at some later date.
