**********************************************************************

Thanks to all for your help..... turns out my son sold the bed to a good friend and they are using the ladder that was manufactured on to the bed.

**********************************************************************

The question asked was:

My son sold a bunk bed on an internet site , all though I told him to dispose of it at the tip. It was given to me and I had to build a 1.5 mtr. wooden ladder to be able to get into the bed.
If any person using the bed suffers any type of injuries from the do-it-yourself build ladder could they sue for compensation or any other costs.
The sale was a private sale and not business related.
Would the Liability Insurance from the Home insurance cover any legal and or compensation issues ???

Kind regards

Anyone can sue for anything, but unless the item really was defective and you knew this and failed to tell the buyer, and the injuries suffered were severe, the chance of you ever hearing another thing about this are slim.

The fact that it was a private sale does not lower your exposure. I doubt that home owners insurance would cover you for this risk, but cross that bridge if it happens, too late to take any extra cover now.
I am NOT a lawyer. Anything said is NOT legal advice.

Please post your legal questions in a forum rather than sending a PM. Thanks.

Bunk bed deaths usually result from a child rolling out of the bed at night (as happened to a cousin) - not from climbing in or out while awake. They should be banned in my opinion but that's not your issue.
Not legal advice. Personal opinion only. Seek legal advice from qualified personnel only.
